I have finally conquered the beast known as Adobe Acrobat. This is good news, for this means that the first official-not-in-beta release of the Pathfinder Character Sheet (not to be confused with the official one released by Paizo)...

Current Version: 1.0.8 [ Download Page ]
  • Corrected the Flat-Footed AC calculations so that they actually calculate correctly.
  • The file has magically become smaller since upgrading my version of Acrobat...

Previous version: 1.0.7
  • Fixed the calculation order issue.

Previous version: 1.0.6
  • Changed Flat-Footed AC Calculation so that penalties are added to the final AC total.
  • Added a visual indication of Flat-footed AC calculation for the character sheet.
  • Placed the total number of ranks used in the character sheet at the head of the Skills section.
  • Fixed a majority of font issues around the character sheet.
  • Fixed the Disable Device skill, it now works as a non-class skill.
  • Fixed the Spellcraft skill, it now works as a trained skill.
  • Thanks to MrStarbuck, AirborneMist for pointing out some needed improvements.

I have a bug to report actually. The total HP isn't taking the constitution modifier into account. This isn't hard to work around, so it's not too big of a problem, just thought I'd mention it though.

First things first, great job on this character sheet, it makes life a lot easier!

Now for the bug. The sheet is not calculating the flat-footed AC correctly. Flat-footed AC doesn't include any Dex bonus but it does include any Dex penalty. The sheet is ignoring the Dex modifier completely, whether it's positive or negative.

From the reference document under "Initiative":

Flat-Footed: At the start of a battle, before you have had a chance to act (specifically, before your first regular turn in the initiative order), you are flat-footed. You can't use your Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) while flat-footed.

Also just noticed that Spellcraft is not being treated as a "trained only" skill, which it is.

saving character sheets

Postby noozoo » Fri Feb 12, 2010 3:12 pm

Hi,

I saw some discussion about the difficulty of saving your character sheets. Is that still an issue? I tried it using Reader 9.0.0 and was able to change things and save a copy of the sheet. And that was on a machine without Acrobat installed, just Reader.

Is that what you experience?

If not, and you're still getting a problem, I will ask around. It might be related to permissions and a certificate I may have on that machine, I'm not sure. I can ask around, and since I work at Adobe, there are people here who know (even though I don't!).

Any way to get a list of fonts you used? I'm trying to modify the Skills list to just the ones for my character and Acrobat Professional won't let me because I don't have the font used.

Thanks - excellent sheet!

I'm currently working on the character sheet, and I'm at odds with myself on changing it. I can think of a couple scenarios where having the character sheet automatically total them would represent the wrong number of hitpoints...most of them involve some very convoluted animal/monster/class combinations. For right now, you'll have to keep track of the HPs (atleast until I can add another block for that somehow).

I appreciate the thanks and the feedback. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll make the changes (which should be in version 1.0.6).

That along with Disable Device were broke, both have been fixed.

Scala Sans is the name of the font used throughout the character sheet. You can find them here for purchase. I was lucky that I had already grabbed them.

It's an option that I turn on when I save the PDF file. The PDF should allow you to save the character sheet. I can verify this with version 1.0.7 of the Pathfinder Character Sheet and Acrobat Reader 9.2. Try the new release and let me know.

It all looks good to me!

I thought I posted another topic, about a bug in the sheet. Did you get it? Is it already fixed?

Cheers

All of the corrections can be found here and here.

I'm also merging this thread with the one started for the Pathfinder Character Sheet. If I haven't fixed the bug yet, please let me know.
